Hundreds of people from across Hampshire assembled in Winchester to say no to the cuts and support the strikes on 30 June. The march was called by Hampshire Association of Trade Union Councils. Jeremy Corbyn MP, Dot Gibson from the National Pensioners Convention and Mark Carden, RMT assistant national secretary were amongst the speakers. Campaigns to keep Sure Start centres and Cherry Orchard residential home open were also represented. There was widespread support for the teachers, lecturers and civil servants strikes on 30 June and for even larger scale strike action over pensions in the Autumn. Lunchtime on June 30 will see a rally and march in Portsmouth and UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis will address a rally in Southampton where council workers will be on strike.
